OUR PURPOSE:  The First Baptist Church of Peru has started this Day Care Ministry because we wan to help people in our community.  We are here to provide quality infant, toddler and preschool child care services with a strong biblical basis.  You, as a parent, have the responsibility and privilege to lead your children by personal example, so that he or she can receive God into their lives at an early age.  The parent's relationship with God neither creates nor destroys the child, but total responsibility does rest upon the parents to guide the child in the study of God's word.  We can help you give your child this training in our daily work.

The goal of our Day Care is to enhance family life for both parents and children by:

  1. Providing part-time child care for target families.

  2. Providing a safe and nurturing environment for children.

  3. Presenting and modeling biblical morals and values.

YOUR CHILD'S FILE:  State law requires us to have updated shot records, and we desire to have current enrollment records for each trial.  Please let us know immediately of any changes in your address, phone numbers, place of employment or emergency contact information.  We also need to be informed of any information that may affect the care of your child.  All information is kept confidential and will not be released without your written permission.  Updated records are crucial.

BE SURE TO SIGN IN & SIGN OUT:  Children will only be discharged to persons other than the parents with your written instructions.  Anyone picking up children may be asked to show ID.

VISITATION:  Any parent/guardian of a child enrolled at the Day Care Ministry will be strongly encouraged to visit with unlimited access to the Day Care during its hours of operation for the purpose of contacting their children, evaluating the care provided by the staff, or evaluating the premises.  Please feel free to join us for lunches, etc.  If possible, please provide us with 24-hour notice if you will be eating lunch with us, so that we can make sure we prepare extra meals.  Also, private areas will be available for those mothers who need a place for breastfeeding.

PHONE CALLS:  Our staff will try to answer the phone messages quickly, but please keep in mind that our workers may not be able to take a phone call immediately.  All messages will be given to them promptly, and a return call will be made, if necessary, as soon as possible.  Feel free to leave a message.

VACATIONS:  If you are going to be gone on vacation please let us know so we don't worry about your child and your family.  You are always in our thoughts and prayers.

ILLNESS:  We can accept only children who are well.  If your child is ill, please notify the Day Care as soon as possible.  If your child becomes ill, you will be contacted and expected to pick up your child.  Children who have vomited, had diarrhea, temperature of 101 degrees orally, or have unusual rashes shall not be admitted back to the Day Care until all symptoms have been clear for twenty-four (24) hours.  Medicines, including over the counter medications, will be given as directed and according to the medication policy of the Day Care.

MEDICATIONS:  We will administer prescription medications according to the directions on the package of the medicine. Make sure you sign your child's name to the daily medicine chart with the time that the medicine should be taken and the amount of the dosage. We will also administer non-prescription with the same instructions. A medication form must be completed by the parent prior to administration of medication.

IMMUNIZATIONS:  Every child attending the Day Care MUST be current on their immunizations.  Please fill out the immunization form and give usa copy of your child's shot records BEFORE coming to the Day Care.  If your child receives new shots, please inform the Day Care Director so that your file can be updated.  These records are required by the Sate of Indiana's Board of Health, and our registration to the state depends on our records being up-to-date.  Failure to keep your records up-to-date will result in expulsion of your child.  Updated records are crucial to our providing good care to your child.

SAFETY POLICY:
No child will be left alone or unsupervised.  When you enter the Day Care, make sure that a staff member is aware of your child's presence.  Similarly, when you pick up your child, make sure a staff member is aware that you are leaving.

CLOTHING:
Since children will be children, we understand there may be some accidents.  Please bring extra clothing that may remain here clearly marked with your child's name for those times.  Also, as the weather changes, make sure that your child has a coat, jacket, hat, gloves, etc. to keep in line with the season.  Again, please have all the child's items marked with his/her name.

TOYS:
Guns, knives, swords, and other toys that could hurt another child are NEVER allowed!  They will be taken away and put aside until the child goes home.  Please keep these at home.  We will provide a variety of toys for your child to play with.

INCLEMENT WEATHER:
The Day Care will be closed in the event that Miami County is under a snow emergency.

MEALS AND SNACKS:
We provide breakfast, a morning snack, a hot lunch, and an afternoon snack.  All food provided to the children will be in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Education.  Baby food and or baby formula will be provided by us.  Unless there is a special diet your child is on.  Written instructions on special feeding is required.  Any food or beverages brought in for children must be in plastic containers.  NO GLASS!  Birthday or other special treats are welcome, but can not be from home.  They must be from a health inspected environment, such as a bakery, Marsh, Martins, or something with that type of environment.  The state doesn't allow anything from home to be brought into our Day Care.

DAILY NAPS/REST TIMES:
All children will be required to rest during nap time.  All required bedding will be provided and state health guidelines will be followed.
