Our Mission - "Helping People Find and Follow Jesus"

THE GREAT COMMISSION:  "Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'"  -  Matthew 28:18-20

WORSHIP, GROW and GIVE - all with the purpose of helping people find and follow Jesus in 2005 and beyond.  The concept of “WORSHIP, GROW and GIVE” provides a basic outline of what we need to do well as a church, as well as what each of us need to be committed to as a follower of Christ.

WORSHIP is not just about what happens in a church building on Sunday mornings.  We worship God daily by loving Him and doing everything for His glory (Matt. 22:37-38; 1 Cor. 10:31).  Yet the Bible makes it clear we should meet together regularly to worship God, to encourage one another, and to be challenged and equipped to live for God and love others (Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:24-25).  Sunday morning services provide an opportunity for us to experience God as we worship together.

We can GROW as followers of Christ through studying and applying the Bible on a daily basis.  Scripture makes it clear that following Jesus isn’t meant to be a “solo sport”.  We need each other for care, support, encouragement and accountability.  We have a lot to learn from each other and we must challenge each other to live for Christ.  This can happen naturally throughout the course of our days and weeks, but often in the midst of our fragmented culture and busy schedules it doesn’t happen naturally.  Because of this, we encourage each person be committed to involvement in a small group or class that meets regularly – preferably weekly.  This provides some intentionality for each of us to develop relationships were we can love one another and follow Christ together.

As followers of Christ we should GIVE in at least a few key ways.  Each of us has a part to play in using our gifts and abilities to serve the church and people in our community.  We also need to “give away” our faith and relationship with God to others.  Even if we don’t have the gift of evangelism, we can love God and love others, invite people to church, and be prepared to explain the reason for the hope that we have in Jesus (1 Peter 3:15).  Last but not least, we should give financially to the church as an act of worship and dependence on God and to support the ministries of our church.

Each of these areas needs to be strong and relevant in the life of our church and in each of our individual lives.
