How Can I Become a Christian?

How Can I Become a Christian?

Quite intentionally, God has made it simple to become a Christian and begin the journey of following Christ! Start with a prayer seeking God’s forgiveness for your sins and accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior. (Sample prayer below, along with scriptural references.)

Being a Christian isn’t about following rituals, doing good deeds or going to church. Becoming a Christian is about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through faith. Believing in Christ, being sorry for your sins and then following Him is what makes a person a Christian. You can pray right where you are.

Here is a sample prayer:
"Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I need and want your forgiveness. I accept your death on the cross as the penalty for my sin, and recognize that your mercy and grace are offered to me because of your great love, not based on anything I have done. By faith I claim you as my Lord and Savior. Please help me become the kind of person you want me to be and put you first all the days of my life. Thank you for your grace and the gift of salvation through Christ!"

Prayer is just the beginning of the Christian walk. We would love to pray with you, answer any questions you might have or help you know more about following Christ. Reach out to our pastor or any one of our leaders and we’ll help you along your way in the quest to know God better.

John 3:16  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For we all have sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. “

Romans 3:22-24

“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. “

Romans 10:9

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life! No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

John 14:6
