Quite intentionally, God has made it so simple to become a Christian! All you have to do is pray seeking God’s forgiveness for your sins and accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior. (Sample prayer below, along with scriptural references.)
Being a Christian isn’t about following rituals, doing good deeds or going to church. Becoming a Christian is about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through faith. Believing in Christ, being sorry for your sins and then following Him is what makes a person a Christian. You can pray right where you are. (But remember that this prayer will not save you in itself. It is only trusting in Christ that can save you.)
Here is a sample prayer: "God, I know I have sinned against you and deserve my punishment, but I believe Jesus Christ took my punishment for me so that I can be forgiven. Please forgive me and help me to follow you. Thank you for your grace and the gift of salvation through Christ!"
We would love to pray with you if you have questions, would like help praying or just want to know more about Christ. Reach out to our pastor or any one of our leaders and we’ll help you along your way in the quest to know God better.
“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For we all have sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. “
